I haven't posted for a bit in the E&F group. I have been using my 4 kg kettlebell several times a week in the great outdoors and loving it.
Then our 6 month old got fall allergies, then a cold, so I was sleeping propped up on pillows with him on my chest so he'd sleep at a steep angle. This started to hurt my lower back. Every day the soreness got worse, so I started easing off on the KB workouts. Last Wed. my back started getting really tight during the workout so I called it quits. That afternoon I had a nasty muscle spasm in my back ow.
Then last night I got up from the kitchen table in absolute agony. I can barely walk down the hall. Yes, I finally did in my back while feeding our 3 year old some watermelon, after years of doing deadlifts, olympic lifts, kettlebells, aikido, etc... I saw the doc today, am going to an orthopedist, and physical therapy. The diagnosis is a mechanical strain on the vertebrae, no slipped disc or anything. Percoset, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
And I was really increasing my cardio fitness level too. My pants had started to loosen up, and according the doc I'm actually up 7 lbs, which is mostly muscle added in my shoulders and back, I think. Anyway, once healthy I will return to the grindstone, and really get to work dropping the 40 lbs I need to lose. I am ordering a Tanita body fat scale tomorrow.
Cheers y'all.

sorry to hear about your injury. I'm glad it sounds like it can be treated without surgery. Keep up the good work.
