Do you find it's harder to exercise later in the day?
I've been going to the gym mid-morning, but today I went before supper. It might have been because I was a little hungry, but it was much harder to do the strength training stuff! (Treadmill was about the same though.)

Do you find that's the case for you?

(Also discovered it's a whole different crowd there after 5 vs. in the daytime!)

1. I'm out of bed at 4:45 am to get to the gym before work
If I don't do it first, it is tremedously difficult to fit the workout into the day later.

4. That's about what time I get up too
I have always preferred to run in the morning.

2. I have my best workouts late morning/early afternoon

so I go to the gym at lunch. I can't workout in the morning. I'm not a morning person.

3. Yes.
Late afternoon/early evening is a low energy time for most people. I either do AM or after 6pm.

5. Physically, at at my prime about 2-3pm, but I have rarely had a schedule that permitted that.
I agree with Miss Millie that it becomes easier & easier to put off a workout as the day progresses. Also I like the satisfaction of going through the day knowing I have already done something really good for myself.

So which crowd do you prefer?

6. It depends on the day.
When I worked, it was really hard for me to exercise late in the day, mostly because I was tired after standing on my feet all day. Now that I no longer work (but I'm ill) I work out when I feel good, and it's often mid-afternoon.

7. For me it makes no difference physically
I never had too much of an issue with putting it off if I'm doing it later in the day.

I just switched to the morning instead of after work because it's so crowded after work. The free weight area is packed in the evening and there's a wait for almost everything else. I used to do an early work schedule to get off at 3:30-4:00 and finish up right as the after work people were showing up. New job further away made that impossible so last week I started doing it in the morning and it's much more pleasant, it's almost empty even as late as 8:00am.

8. Yes -- morning is best for me -- also elevates your metabolism for the whole day
or at least those are the claims I have read.
