Shovelglove.com No, seriously.
If you're looking for a fun alternative to lifting freeweights, this guy's got an interesting solution: Cozy up to your sledgehammer and perform actions similar to what we did in olden times when a day's work consisted of more physical tasks.

Lest you think I'm nutty, I found it because I was http://lifeandhealth.guardian.co.uk/wellbeing/story/0,,2168469,00.html">browsing an article in the Guardian .

http://www.shovelglove.com/ Be sure to check out his Youtube videos. And as always, be careful! :-)

2. Interesting resemblance to Russian kettlebells
which also make use of weights in motion.

And I've been looking at kettlebells recently too.

I think the idea of static weightlifting is not appealing to me anymore. As much as I know the benefits of it, I want to know that the exercise I'm doing relates to real world work/tasks.

5. I'm curious about kettlebells too
There's a Sunday morning 7:00 Santa Monica beachfront kettlebell group I might check out.
