MBT shoes
A friend recently bought a pair of these shoes & RAVES about them. She claims they have helped alleviate the pain in her foot & knee. The site info is compelling, as are the testimonials, but holy crap, they are expensive!! Over $150! Some over $200!

I'd pay $150 for an article of clothing that will last for years, but I'm reluctant to spend this much on walking shoes that I'll replace in 18 months.

Has anyone here ever tried them? Is this just a gimmick?

1. There are three stores near me
that sell these shoes, according to the web site.

I think I'll go try them out in the store before I buy them. That's a lot of mulah for about 2 years worth of wear. But I'll see.

2. Please, let me know what you think!
There's a couple of shops in my area, but I'm not sure I want to brave the holiday crowds to try on a pair of shoes. Maybe I'll sneak out of work some afternoon when the mall isn't so busy. ;)

3. I already gave my opinion about the MBTs in another thread

I'm approaching 18 mos now with my first pair, nearly 10,000 steps a day for nearly the entire time I've owned them and the wear is minimal.

If you worry about them breaking down, etc.......there is an affordable option. Resole America (the ONLY resolers they authorize) will resole the shoes. The cost is $55.00 and if you want new insoles, that's another $10.00.

I've seen some really nasty looking MBTs that come back looking brand new!

Here's an order form for Resole America with costs:

Here's a link to Resole America:

I know they are expensive, but having had these for 18 mos they are PRICELESS to me. No pain in feet, knees or back. I researched them for nearly 2 yrs before I decided to do something for myself. I was going through a pair of shoes every 3 mos because they broke down so quickly, bringing back the pain. I did not buy cheap either. I loved Ryka until I found MBT. I also tried NB, etc. So, I was spending a minimum of 90.00 every 3 mos. That's 4 pair a year ($360.00), so I'm ahead of the game at $225.00 for 18 mos and they still have lots of life in them before I even think about resoling them!
