I have begun training for a marathon
This week is the 2nd week of training with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's http://www.teamintraining.org">Team in Training for the San Diego Rock & Roll Marathon in June.

I ran with them last season. While I did not raise funds or complete a marathon, I built my fitness, got to know the local TnT gang, and become comfortable with the idea. Now I am reprising training at their intermediate level, on top of swimming as my cross training (and the occasional visit to the gym with the swim team.)

Anyone here ever run a marathon? Anyone wanna be in my cheering section?

1. Wow, that's a big-ass deal, congrats and kudos for taking it on!
I'm NOT a runner, as you know, but MrShine looooves to run and has completed many marathons and half-marathons...so I kind of know about training for one, vicariously through him.

I rode my bike from SF to LA over the course of a week (575 miles!) for the CA AIDS Ride back in 2000 and had to raise a bunch o' money, all for a good cause. It was great! Hard work, but really worth it in the end.

Count me in on your cheering section! :yourock:

2. I'll cheer you on!
I think running is the hardest exercise! A few years ago I worked up to an entire mile & was very proud! It took a long time to get there! You go, Ellen! You can do it!!

3. better you than me
About 15-20 years ago I used to run in the local 5ks and 5 milers. I live in NJ at the shore and was able to do most of my training on the boardwalk. I loved it and was never in better shape in my life. Unfortunately, I found that as I upped my mileage or increased my speed, I would get injured. It got to the point that I was sidelined by injury more than I was running so I gave it up. I'm envious of anyone who can stay in training. Running is a great sport. Of course, even if I thought I could do it, I don't know about 26.2 miles...

Good luck!
