Did my first 10K in a year |

without injuries and joint pain. :woohoo:
Was mostly prepared for it. Still playing 7v7 co-ed soccer. I've been running regularly for the past few weeks, but not above 5 miles. Last overdistance run was 4.5 miles, with difficulty.
Made it through this morning; finished at 1:02:15. I knew not to try to beat 60 mins, but I didn't think it would be this close. I'll be sore for the next day and a half.
Next stop: Tuesday night soccer.

I run but slowly. Last week I had a great run for me, 7.6 miles in 84 min. I normally do 7 but my legs were feeling good so I went a little further. This week I did 8 in 94 min. Slower, but I don't usually go 8 miles so I'm not too disappointed.
Looks like I need new shoes since my knees were hurting, that's always the sign.

I just started running again after years and years. In my 20's; I ran 6-8 miles regularly; stopped when I started a family. Now that I'm in my 40s and haven't been doing much aerobic activity it is slow going. I bought a treadmill and set a goal of 2 miles; started walking mostly; now I am up to running most of it with a short fast walk in the middle. My goal is a 5K race in a few months.
I have found my body doesn't respond as it did 20 years ago; my main trouble is finding a good pair of shoes.
