Just found a way to motivate myself |
|
Edited on Tue Dec-16-08 10:32 PM by Lydia Leftcoast
I have an iPod Touch with TV shows loaded on it, and I've found that I can watch episodes while walking on the treadmill and riding the recumbent exercise bike. It's also a great way to time the session. Halfway through on the bike, halfway through on the treadmill. When it's below zero outside, a walk around the lake isn't such an attractive option. :-)
Since the shows are series like The Wire and The Sopranos, I am motivated to see the next episode.

take your recumbent exercise bike muscles and apply them to a recumbent bicycle!

4. Actually, I have a folding bike that fits in trunk of my car |
|
instead of a recumbent that I would have to lug up and down four flights of stairs. :-)

Finding a way to motivate yourself to exercise is very important. You can catch up on all those shows.

3. There's nothing like burning calories while sitting on your butt watching TV! |

;)
You get your motivation where you can!!  Aren't there six seasons of The Sopranos? You've got good viewing for awhile!
Our exercise consistency went up radically when we put a TV in the exercise room. Then I checked out a couple of exercise videos from the library, I bought a step & I finally found an exercise that I really like! Unfortunately, my old knees limit me to about three step sessions a week, so it's good to have the bike & treadmill for those days. We have a Schwinn recumbent that is pretty comfortable & a Precor treadmill that we bought in '91, that is still going strong! What kind of bike & treadmill do you have?

I've seen all but the last ten episodes of The Sopranos. Right now, I'm working on the second season of The Wire.

6. It's almost three years for me, thanks to my bike. |
|
In Feb. '06 I started walking six days a week. Figured if I couldn't stay on a diet I could at least exercise. Then in September I worried that I wouldn't keep it up once the weather got colder so we bought a recumbent bike and I did keep that up, with the help of a small TV in the room. Makes the time just zip away. I still walk sometimes during warm weather, but the bike is my main exercise year-round.
After only a year I had worn out that first bike (a Nordic Track recumbent--don't buy one!) and we bought a Schwinn. It's wonderful and shows no sign of failing us. My husband is working out on it too, as of this fall.
I bike for 45 min in the late afternoon--just fits my schedule and mood better. Oh and I've gotten my eating under control too, and between that and exercise have lost 25 pounds.
