Had a rough 2008, looking forward to a better 2009
:)

I got very sick in 2008 & suffice to say, put on all the weight I had worked so hard to lose the last two-three years. Now my goal is to get this weight back off, & to complete the Camino de Santiago in Spain in September. Slightly over 1 month of walking at least 12 miles every day, total of about 750 kms. Might even get under 200 lbs if I can do it. ;) I would like to get at least 750 folks to donate 1 pint of blood (in honor of those who donated the blood needed to save my life; see more here: www.kellyonthecaminofrances.blogspot.com )

Anyway, starting tomorrow, I'm hitting the pavement. I've already resolved that I will not buy any Cokes this month (will try this on a month to month basis), & prepare most of my meals at home. Good luck to everyone in 2009! :)

1. Bummer on the weight gain, but I'm right there with you!
I have slacked off on my fitness routine for about 18 months. It's not that I don't work out at all, but I've been very inconsistent & it shows! I've re-gained over half the weight I took off!

Sorry to hear about your health problems, but if you start now, you should be in pretty good shape for the walk in September. Wow! An entire month of walking! It sounds awesome. I had never heard of this walk so I Googled it. It looks like a beautiful route.

2. It is
there's a growing world-wide community of people who have walked the many Caminos. There's more than one trail to Santiago, but I want to walk the oldest (Camino Frances) first before I try any of the others.
