ah, the joys of working out... |
|
Blisters on my feet, legs sore, lol -
It's gonna take about 6 more weeks before I'm back to where I was but the hard part, getting started again, is over. I'm starting to feel that happy powerful in control feeling I get when I'm working out 'for real'. Feels great, don't know why I ever stopped.
How's your "fitness" going?

though I did stop running due to sore knees. I just do cardio at the gym instead. I'd like to try running again later and see if the pain comes back.
I know what you mean about that powerful feeling. I lose it on vacations since they're usually with family and we often don't have time to work out every day. Plus when you spend all that money to get there and it's hundreds or a thousand miles away, you want to spend time with people. When I get home it's hard to get back into it. I'd rather loaf but I know I'll feel better when I start working out again. No exercise is cranky lizerdbits. :)

2. You must be in great shape. |

I slack off when it gets cold then as it warms up I'm more active. But this winter I reeeally slacked off, not a good idea.
It's been really motivating reading this forum. It reminded me how good it feels to work out.
Vacations are tough. It's the food that gets me. Takes a week or two to ween myself from vacation mode once I get back.
My knees are better now but when I first started back they bothered me. The squats and lunges help with that but I also do this one: put ankles weights on, lay on my back, raise knees in line with hips and then slowly raise and lower my feet. You'll feel it in the quads but it gets the knees too without the pressure squats/lunges put on them.
What kinds of workouts do you do at the gym? Class's or solo? I was thinking about taking a kick boxing class.

3. I mostly do weights and use the cardio equipment |
|
I haven't taken any of the classes since I work out in the morning and most of them are in the evening. Sometimes I'm at work late and could miss class which is another reason. One of the PTs gave me his card because he did some 'boot camp' type classes elsewhere and thought I might be interested (I'm stronger than most of the women there and he noticed). I would be, but I can't swing $65 per class on top of my membership there.
What gets me after vacation is my back. If I'm not using those muscles I get sore. I'm trying to avoid what I call 'dad back'- my dad has had several surgeries.

You musta laughed out loud at the suggestion of squats and lunges to "help with that", haha, sorry!
I've seen those boot camp work outs in magazines, they look intense! It'd be so cool to be able to keep up with the instructor, especially if he's ex military. I always think of them as the pinnacle of tough. I bet you'd love it!
