Breaking a fitness and weight plateau |
|
takes patience and persistance. Because of the cold winter weather, I did most of my running as intervals on the treadmill and stairmaster. Not my preferred, but I kept at them. When the weather improved and I could go outside, I found that my run times didn't significantly improve, but my endurance did--a lot. I feel like I can just cruise. The breaks became fewer and farther between, and I felt like I could run farther, and I did. On my standard 5-mile run, before I needed 3 breaks to get up the steep hill, now, I can do it with 1 break. Before, I needed a break at the halfway point, now, I can run the whole distance with just 1 break up the steep hill. My legs are sore later after the run, but I can do it. The belt line is showing improvement after the increased distance, too.
