Can people run on school tracks? |
|
I recently moved to an area that doesn't have any ideal streets/sidewalks/paths for running, so I've been looking for some alternatives. I'm thinking the high school down the street would be my best bet, but I wasn't too sure if non-students are allowed to run on them.... Obviously I would go either in the early early morning (5am) or in the late evening or night. I'm getting restless due to my lack of running....

It's a public space, much like a park.
Though, since it is a school and they are touchy about strangers around students. I would just call the office and see if it would be alright to use the track in the early AM. (There will also be kids out there at times: band practice, track, and so on.

I'm going to try my luck on the streets tomorrow to see how it works out. If it doesn't work out, then I think I'll call the school and see what they say.

3. I used to run on the community college track when I lived down the street. |

Most everyone there was not a student, believe me! It's actually not a bad workout, because you can also run bleacher steps for intervals, and the track is nice and springy so you don't mess up your feet.
My indication that it was okay was that the gate was not locked or guarded. I figured it was an open invite!

depending on the place, normally after 6pm after all of the practices are done. I don't know about early mornings; you'd have to ask.

5. You might be a tax-payer where that school is... |
|
... If so, you've every right to run on it (with non-competing events going on).
