Hillary/Warner in 08! any takers? |
|
I think we should face it- if Hillary wants the nomination, i doubt she wont get it. That's fairly ok with me, as long as she goes back to being the Hillary I knew and loved a while back. Also, Warner can help win the moderates and maybe some southerners back.

1. I don't have anything against Hillary |
|
although she's more conservative and hawkish than I like. I just really don't think that she would be able to win in the general election. The RW has done such an effective job of demonizing her over the past decade and a half that half the country believes she's the anti-Christ.
If she were running, particularly at the top of the ticket, I can just imagine the trailor parks of the nation being absolutely emptied of people going out to vote for the first time in their lives against the Devil incarnate.
That's just my feeling on the matter. I realize that others may differ in their opinions.

13. Well, we can always try it and see what happens. |
|
The worst that can come of it is 8 years of Bill Frist or Jeb. Small price to pay though for finally having a woman at the top of a major ticket. Of course, we couldn't go with a woman like Boxer who doesn't need to "go back to her roots" whatever that means. Better go with one who's pretty far to the right, despite the fact that she's absolutely demonized by them.
If nothing else, it will at least make 2008 entertaining.

just principles and willingness to stick to them. At this point I don't really care anymore if 40% of Democrats want to push the party over a cliff. Maybe Frist or Jeb won't be so bad after all.

I don't claim to understand it, but there is a lot of pro-Hillary posturing that doesn't seem to account for political reality.
But I'm used to losing so, sure, lets nominate her.

But it is WAY too early for any of this

20. I think that Boxer would be a much better choice |

than Hillary. She's not my first choice for the nomination, but I could certainly get behind her. She doesn't have the kind of baggage that Hillary has. She doesn't have a decade and a half of RW demonization, and she hasn't compromised her principles in ways that seriously turn off progressives the way Hillary has.
I would far rather see Hillary remain in the Senate, and maybe begin taking somewhat stronger stands for Democratic values.

Warner will be awesome, and I would prefer to see him up first. He got the Dems a governorship in the South, and has done an outstanding job in VA.

I wish I could be a repub for a brief moment so I could get the complimentary gun that comes with Repubism and shoot whoever said "Hillary in 08"
NO HILLARY NO NO NO NO NO NO HILLARY EVER!!!
Everytime someone says Hillary in 08, a republican ejaculates and says "AHHH VICTORY!!!"
People hate her, I don't care for her that much either. I like Bill just fine in fact, YAY BILL FOR GETTIN SOME ON THE SIDE!!! I would say 80% of the country thinks of Hillary in a similar way 80% of Democrats think of CONDOLEEZA RICE.
in conclusion, "if you can't say anything nice about somebody, you must be talking about Hillary Clinton"----Jeff Foxworthy.

I was really hoping Kerry would have picked Warner this time around.. Don't think Hillary will get elected just tooooooo polarizing, and the people here are right the media will take her apart, they are already doing now! I say Obama should be vice pres candidate, don't think Dean will run, he had to commit 4 full yrs as DNC Chair. RNC have been chanting Condi as possible VP candidate, if so we have trouble having a black women on the ticket in order to cut into a large block of black voters..
Organize now !

I don't like to speculate about '08, we've got some work to do regarding election reform first, or it won't matter. But, everytime I see Hillary listed as being a "front runner", I just don't get it. WHY? I like her ok, I'm in NY, she's my senator, and an ok one I guess, although I didn't agree with her Rice vote. But what has she done, aside from being the wife of a popular and CHARISMATIC (the thing she's really missing) president? Really, I have nothing against her, but I just don't see why she's considered a "front runner". Name recognition? Yeah, but not always in a good way.
Ambition - yeah. So what? There are a lot of ambitious potential candidates who stick to their principles, and don't go wherever the political winds are taking them. I want to see the repukes OUT of the WH, and while I don't have any idea who I want to see in there, I have a pretty good idea it's not Hillary. She's a good senator.

the Democratic presidential candidate in 2008 because the Clintons have a lot of power and money. Many Democratic office holders are in their debt, couldn't have gotten elected without them.
If Hillary runs, everyone else will step aside to "pay their debt" to the Clintons.
