The staff and I have been reading through thousands upon thousands of replies to my letter last week, and I wanted to report back to you on what people are saying about the plan for the future of our party:

Two things struck me as I read what grassroots Democrats like you have to say.

One was the honesty I heard about your very practical concerns at the local level -- many wrote about starting a local party organization, or living in a heavily Republican area where it has been hard to get the resources to make a difference.

But we will meet those challenges -- because what stood out even more was the overwhelming energy and excitement at the grassroots of our party. So many Democrats can't wait to get started -- they want to grow our party from the ground up.

And that's exactly what we're going to do.

I'm traveling this week and next week -- to exactly the kind of places where we need to start building. I'm just leaving upstate New York, where folks concerned about jobs and fiscal responsibility are learning that you can't trust Republicans with your money.

And I'm on my way to Kansas and Mississippi to talk to Democrats about how to take our agenda and values out into their communities.

But our party will only succeed if you work to build it in your community. Your commitment can make it happen.

Dean going to Kansas and Mississippi put a big smile on my face. That shows that we do CARE about the red states and that we will work to get their votes. I have my fingers crossed that he will be coming to Alabama soon! :)

2. Many Worried For No Reason

I said it then and I say it now: Dr. Dean will be a superb DNC chair. With him organizing the grass roots and good Democratic legislators pushing hard to enact meaningful election reform with real teeth, the 2008 presidential campaign looks better every day.

6. Dean has the heart of a giant.

For the poor people who don't quite get it, this man promotes his beliefs with fervor and he doesn't care what it costs him. He cares about people, their needs, and their sufferings. I gag every time Kerry's name comes up. Shit, you chose a winner, a real fighter. Give the little bastard a thump on the head, "oh, I concede."

Why is it that you feel a need to attack Kerry in a thread about Dean? They are on the SAME SIDE. If this is what Dr. Dean promotes, I don't like it. I know more about Kerry than I know about Dean, but my brother and his wife are what you'd call "Deaniacs", and I've learned a lot through them.

I think he's doing a great job, and I think you're not supporting him by attacking John Kerry. Can't we start fighting the REAL enemy and stop eating our own?

What makes you think that is what Dean promotes? He worked his butt off for Kerry. No, Dean does not promote that.
