If I hear one more Democrat apologize for something I am going to explode! I don't want them to say sorry even if they bump into someone in the hallway. Why can't the leaders in this party take a page from KKKarl's play book and never apologize for anything (Dean is the exception). What is the worst that will happen? A few days of "Oh, you need to apologize" over and over again from the Re-Thugs and the Corporate Media? Suck it up and take it. How about every time a so-called reporter asks if you think you should apologize, you say "I will apologize when this administration admits it lied to get us into this illegal war." Use the added attention to get your message across. If the media wants to use you to distract, it is your job to get them back on message.
Get some balls, stop the in-fighting, and get to business. I say use the media like they use you. They have one choice, either broadcast the truth or have to drop the story.
I'M SORRY I'M A DEMOCRAT. at least today I am.

1. You're right, of course. Every time a Dem falls for this apology BS |

Edited on Thu Jun-23-05 03:19 PM by stopbush
it comes back on them later with the RW noise machine aping the "remember when Clinton/Durbin/whoever had to apologize?" crapola.
You NEVER apologize in politics, never...unless it's the "I'm sorry that you're such an effing stupid RW POS that you don't understand the language" type of apology.

9. I think they should declare a moratorium on aplolgies within the party |
|
No one apologizes for anything. Any apologies will be handled by Howard Dean if deemed necessary. One party, One Voice. That's how it should be, at least until everyone starts acting like they are on the same side.
Hear that Lieberman!?!??!!!!!

15. One Party, One Voice? |
|
One Party, One Voice? Doesn't that strike you as totalitarian? While obviously in any political party the possibility of people that are so far out of the groups goals that they might as well not be one, and there is a need for some sort of consensus, is there to be no dissension at all? Are we supposed to simply toe the party line?

17. Well, of course I don't mean that literally.... |
|
By one voice,I mean everybody on the same page. Dissention is fine, but when people start trashing the chairman of the party that the party itself elected to be it's leader a mere 6 months ago, I think that is wrong. This is the kind of weakness that the Repuglican attack dogs just wait for. Then they can devide us further.
If we put aside the petty differences and focus on the big picture we can work out the inner-party coonflicts once we can get ourselves a seat back at the table of this government.
We can all cry about the fact that our leaders don't care about our own personal special issues, but until we have the power to do something about it, the point is moot.

19. History proves you wrong... |

If we put aside the petty differences and focus on the big picture we can work out the inner-party coonflicts once we can get ourselves a seat back at the table of this government.
This is what the Communists said to the Anarchists in Russia, what they said to them in Spain, and what they said to them in Paris in 68. "But Comrade, we will sort those things out AFTER the revolution". Just like then, as now, pushing down major issues and divisions for a false sense of political harmony or peace inevitably leads to absolute failure down the road.
These historic examples might seem out of place (Anarchists? Europe? Communists? Absurd!) but they prove a point that happens time and time again in political situations. The person who stuffs down their voice in order to "get along" with the whole ends up half the time with nothing, AND the defeat of the broader political side (meaning progressives stuffing down their complaints in order to satisfy moderates end up, inevitably, getting no acknowledgement AND the loss of the broader election). It's a historical precendent to keep in mind when it seems attractive to "toe a line".

I called, faxed and emailed Durbin to please not apologize. We were with him etc....
He apologized.
And we wonder why they paint us with the 'weak' brush?

Just stall and wait it out the way the republicans do. Has the White House responded to Conyers' petition yet? Is it even in the news anymore?

And you didn't get beat to death in 2000 and 2004? Oh don't give me that "we won in 2000!" bit. Of course Al Gore did, but he should have never of gotten that close to losing to begin with. Were the "spoilers" of Nader votes responsible for it, or were the turn off, centrist policies of the Clinton administration responsible? And why the general failure in the House and the Senate with Democrats?

Couldn't agree more. Thanks!
It's way past time for any apology (the "oh! I'm sorry. They have destroyed everything we stand for and I called them for what they are and done wrong all those years, but please accept my apology." type).
(Get this on the Greatest page.)

Don't applogize when they say you're wrong. When you are correct, stand by it.
I have no doubts that Rove makes threats. I have no dobts he makes good on enough of them to strike fear in a lot of people. But, damn, yo only die once. May as well live for something that matters, like truth and the courage to speak it to anybody.

12. It's just like the Wellstone funeral nonsense..... |
|
Bush goes out after his death and says: "Paul Wellstone was a plain-spoken fellow who did his best for his state." The obvious implication being that he was a failure, hard though he tried. Clinton showed Gingrich more respect when he resigned in disgrace.
And I hate that we keep playing into their hands and letting them portray us as the mean-spirited ones. They are the ones who say the most vile, hateful things about liberals. Gingrich even used to blame the liberal culture when random people were murdered. He exploited these tragedies. There is no Democratic counter-part to that.
Then again, there wasn't nearly as much media coverage of it as there has been of this nonsense.

13. The biggest problem are the Corporate Media Whores (CMW)... |
|
that are owned by these thugs. A Democrat will never be given the platform to voice their side of the story until the CMW's are brought down.
We have to stop the media before they kill again.
