1. Better Democracy Bonds |
|
Perhaps the Party could provide the option to receive a very high quality and attractive Democracy Bond certificates. Like savings bonds they could have engraved images of famous Democrats. The more expensive bonds could have actual signatures from Dean and other famous Democrats. For 10k you might receive a framed certificate with Hillary and Bill Clinton's signatures.
They could sell special edition campaign bonds. You could for example join the Cesar Chavez labor campaign or a Christopher Reeve stem cell campaign. People could purchase bonds for everything from reproductive rights to environmental protection. This would be a great way to tell the party what matters. The party WILL listen to the money. This would be immeasurably better that those stupid surveys that they send out.
I like the idea of shopping for the government I want online.
During primary season people could buy bonds specific to their candidate. The funds might go to the general election but the party could publish the results on the web page.
An actual celebrity signature might be added to on in every 50 bonds. This might create a bit of a lottery effect.
If it were done properly it might become a bit like collecting stamps. Donors would be given a tangible and public way to display their support for political issues and the party.

2. State and County Democracy Bonds |
|
Why couldn’t the National party also sell State and County Democracy Bonds? This would be an excellent way to leverage National campaign attention to rebuild local organizations.
I also make sustaining contributions to my state and local Democratic organizations. I think that this practice should be encouraged.

3. You should send that idea in |
|
I really like it. I think it could work.
My only problem with it would be figuring out which (and how many) bonds I could afford... hehe. Do I give a lot to this one bond thing or do I buy these three bonds for issues that all matter to me... oh the dilema...
