I'm slowly becoming better educated thanks to DU. So tell me, |
|
why all the hostility towards DLC? How is it different from the DNC?

3. FDR would have been DLC. DLC is more concerned with governing and is... |

more willing to make compromises than are DUers. By the standards used here, FDR would have been DLC and would not have been supported by DUers. FDR sold out to Hearst by condemning the World Court to get the Democratic nomination in 1932. He would not say anything in favor of the anti-lynching bill in order not to antagonize Southern Democrats and he instigated a recession in 1937 to appease fiscal conservatives. Today, we call that "triangulation."
I'm still glad he was president. But governing is complicated and sometimes you have to make compromises.

4. The DLC was founded by all those Dems who looked with envy |
|
on the Republicans with their coffers overflowing with corporate donations, and decided to get some of that lucre for themselves--which they did, to an extent anyway, by taking on "corporate-friendly" colors. Their more liberal brethren see them as sell-outs.

5. They are the "Democratic" wing of the neocons |
|
They are the snakes in our midst, the corporatists. They are people who must be marginalized to save our party. We are a big tent party which sometimes allows for people who don't have our best interests at heart to exploit us. They call themselves the New Democrats but really their just Republicans and not even the old fashioned okay ones.

6. DLC is the Yuppie wing |
|
Socially liberal, business and money oriented, more ruthless foreign policy. When their strategies didn't work, they just kept going further and further right without recognizing they were leaving their voting block behind.
