Democrats...The Way of the Dinosaurs... |
|
Sitting here reading all of this depressing news, I've concluded that maybe the Democrats are doomed? To most people, the Democrats seem weak. Bush reduces them to "Are you smarter than a 5th grader?"....sad, sad. What is really sad is the Democrats usually don't appear to be smarter than Bush, who really DOES act like a 5th grader! It is like watching a Dr. Phil show, you know, a couple (Herbert and Barbara) who's young son (George) runs wild and out of control, while the parents sit by explaining that he's so full of energy, and he takes ritalin, and he really didn't mean to set the neighbors cat on fire, and yes, George tried karate for a while, but he says it hurt when they hit him, so he quit...no the soccer thing didn't work either, too much running. I mean c'mon Democrats!! Where is your backbone!? How can you NOT control this spoiled little boy? Who's going to vote for "The Bad Parents"? The Democrats always give in and let little Georgey have his way...and inevitably end up cleaning his messes, paying damages to those that end up in his whirlwind of destruction, and saying..."It's only the Constitution, he can shred it if he wants to" ...while you meekly smile for the cameras like you are in control of the little monster, playing with him at tea time....all the while fading into insignificance.

2. The math = 2/3 in both houses to override a veto |
|
60 votes in the Senate to stop a filibuster
The rest is just making speeches.
The Chimp did not get his first choice for AG and I don't hear about too many Judicial nominations going through right now.
Nobody with any authority is going to end the war in the next year, not the Chimp, not the Congress.
And people that think Democrats are going to eliminate Corporate influence are off their collective rockers.
If you got a problem with that, you need to look deeply at the MSM and your fellow Americans and see whether you can change them.

...the reality:
Chimp got both of his Supreme Court nominees through. To a conservative, that's the Holy Grail.
He got No Child Left Behind. He got his bankruptcy reform law that was written by Wall Street.
He got the Patriot Act.
And above all, he got his war. And the Democrats just stood there and looked at him.
What's left?
It should be secession time for a state like California...but I know it'll never happen. There's too much money involved.
Either that, or a whole lot of liberals will become so disgusted they'll just say to hell with it and leave.
I think that's the next step. You can't sell abortion, gay rights, gun control and unionism to someone who drives to Sunday services at an Evangelical church in a pickup with a gun rack in it. That description fit all of my neighbors in Texas - and I lived several different places down there.
My wife and I spent eight years in the northern suburbs of Dallas. They keep building schools and hospitals and churches and new freeways and the people keep coming...and coming...and coming. And they're NOT liberals, and in Texas they never will be with the possible exception of Austin. Austin is different and always will be different...but Dallas ain't Austin. We see similar migration patterns from Ohio and Michigan into Atlanta, Orlando and other growth markets located in Right To Work states. Charlotte and Nashville are further examples.
The refusal of Democrats to acknowledge the need to sell themselves in southern states HAS to be dealt with. If they don't, the party's not going to survive. The current governor of Texas was a Dixiecrat. Phil Gramm was a Dixiecrat. Dick Shelby was a Dixiecrat. These are GOOD guys, with the possible exception of Rick Perry. He's good looking but he's stupid. And he was a commissioned officer in the Air Force! I still don't understand that.
We MUST HAVE those Dixiecrats. If we don't, we don't have a party that's viable. That's going to anger a lot of people here but it's true. If the San Francisco left doesn't like it, they can vote Green. They're basically Greens anyhow.

3. Here is the Math Problem. There is a wing of Democratic party |
|
who votes with GOP. The Party cannot state a serious position that will hold the length of time it takes to get a vote.
