Does anyone know if the DNC blog is actively blocking grassroots posting by preventing new users from getting the required "blog name", or is there some kind of software incompatibility issue? I can sign on to the site, but for the last 3 months, whenever I try to post to the blog I am directed to a "Set Blog Name" page that doesn't work. Their Morning Open Thread this morning showed only 13 comments after 2 hours. Looks like most would-be posters are blocked. The webmaster doesn't reply to repeated emails, and the DNC "chairman's office" phone agents claim not to know anything about it. Anyone here have any insight?

over at DNC has been experiencing difficulties for 45 days.
Go to the "contact" section, (top of page- right) click, then look on the left side- second section down for "technical issues". Write them a note. Tell them you can't sign on.
The blog isn't closed to new bloggers. They have screwed it up royally. Further, there are more comments than you can tell from the front page.
If you get signed in and are able to comment, you will see more comments. It takes some time to get the hang of it.
Good luck.

as I said in the post, I've already emailed the webmaster (via the "technical issues" link) more than once to no avail. I was signed on to the site, but the blog section won't accept new blog names, and the blog won't accept a user without one. It's a little hard to believe that 45 days, or I think more like 3 months worth of people writing to them hasn't alerted them, and that they haven't been able to correct the situation. I think it's more likely that they are afraid of runaway bloggers as happened with FISA bill opponents on the Obama site, and don't want to spend the resources to do the enormous amount of moderating it would take to police an open site. Can't say I blame them entirely, but it would be more honest to take down the blog and merely post their articles as "news". An explanation that moderating the blog has been taking resources better used to support candidates would be accepted by most.

I was in a hurry and missed your last sentence on the original.
The DNC blog has been broken since May 30, I know this is the date, without a doubt. I go there regularly and that specific date happens to corresponds with another "important" date in my life.
I have called. I have written. I spoke with Michael Link who blames it on the IT team. Michael maintains they are still trying to fix it. I have also left messages for Josh McConaughy. Josh is supposedly the head of IT.
Your explanation would be lovely but they rarely moderate the blog anyway. Even in its' broken state it is over run with trolls. There have been different speculations offered up, but it hardly matters. It does not work properly. However, I have seen some "new" names since it has been broken.
Many of the regulars have gone to the "party builder" option. You definitely can blog there if you like. Have you tried that? I don't care for that set up at all, but you might like it. Just a thought.
Good luck.
