Dear selfish, big mouth, grandstanding Democrats by brooklynbadboy Tue Oct 19, 2010 at 08:56:03 AM PDT One of the problems with some of you Democrats is that you all must have played ping-pong in high school rather than a team sport. I'd just like to give you a brief description of what a team is and how it is supposed to work. <snip> My sentiments exactly... http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2010/10/19/911592/-Dear-selfish,-big-mouth,-grandstanding-Democrats-

2. Well-said...maybe Claire wasn't getting enough attention this week. |
|
Unless the ad was false or baldly took a quote out of context, she needs to STFU and let voters in KY decide what to think about it.

|
She had no business putting her two cents into this race...Of course there is a matter of free speach, I wonder how she would have reacted if she had bee attacked by a candidate from KY. You can bet she would have been pissed.
If you can say something nice about a fellow Dem...then keep it to your self Clair.

If democrats are selfish, big mouthed grandstanders, the republicans are ten times worse. Only include lying, cheating, stealing, racist, fascist, bought-and-paid-for bigots for your Good Ole Boy network. For truth, stop listening to Beg-for-brains and cronies. Learn the facts, cowboy. And as for "team" sports. I call it being afraid to think for yourselves, letting others do the thinking for you. The rethugs just follow blindly like sheeple, as their leaders laugh all the way to the bank. Watch as the grand old party takes the country over the cliff one more time. Maybe the last. Fools. Talk about the "Dumbing Down of America".. Just pathetic.

Don't you get tired of losing elections?
YOU don't get to choose what Republicans do, you only get to decide what YOU do.
Tearing down democrats, does not help democrats....got that? You want to make yourself feel better, go yell in a pillow, don't do it in a way that hurts the cause.
There is a REASON why Repubs continue to win elections, in spite of an agenda that is against working people. Weren't you awake during the last midterms???
The Repubs have their "11th commandment", and it has served them well. Saint Ron stated it, and it helps them gain traction, while we tear each other apart.
Don't you get tired of losing elections?

You Republicans need to understand that its not us Democrats don't know how to be part of a team, it's that we think Republican ideas are stupid. While you're policies are great for the rich, the billionaires and millionaires, it's not great for the majority of America; particularly for minorities and women. The Republican party may be united and working together, but around stupid policies and ideas.
Republicans are the ones who don't want to sacrifice for the good of America. You want tax cuts for the rich and not have health care for the poor and vulnerable. You want tax cuts for rich white men and not public education for low income minority neighborhoods. You want tax cuts for the rich instead of levees that don't break in New Orleans that protect low income minorities.

Only problem with your post, 23, is that there is no explanation for why Repubs win elections, and we lose.
I certainly don't disagree with your viewpoint, BUT, the way we put out our message does NOT resonate with a whole lot of Americans. Part of this is that we fatally wound our candidates during primaries, and while they try to govern.
Every time we denigrate an elected democrat, we reinforce what the Repubs have said all along!! Good work! Then we lose the election, and you wonder why?? Doh?
Look at all your wonderful arguments. How could any affected person not vote for us and against Repubs?
........and yet they do, and they will continue to do so until we change our approach. THE REPUBS WILL NOT CHANGE WHAT THEY ARE DOING, and if that is what you are waiting for, it will be a long, cold winter for ya.

Feel better?
Need a crying towel?
You DO realize that it was a progressive that copied that article, as an illustration? No?
That article could have been writting about the principles of John Wooden, the brilliant basketball coach at UCLA. He seemed to have a measure of success, and didn't seem to have dirty teams. That would have been the teams that did not enforce discipline, that allowed people to "do their thing".
You don't know who those coaches were, but Coach Wooden will live forever.

10. WEIRD definition of team |
|
"A team is a primarily a vehicle for personal sacrifice." No, that's a cult. The purpose of a team is to get something done.
"Individual concerns are set aside." No they're not. One chooses a team that supports them. To work for a team that is opposing your interests is foolish or worse.
"Personal will is curbed." Who, on a football team, is going to actually contact an opponent without an enormous amount of personal will manifested in that exact moment?
"resolve themselves to accepting things they don't like" There's a difference between 'things you don't like' and 'things that betray the team's purpose'.
Following the link in the Kos article, I though this poster made a good point... "Why waste time blasting him for college religous BS and not for recent comments about businesses being within their rights to post "no blacks allowed" on their windows?!!?"

"You can't live a perfect day without doing something for someone who will never be able to repay you."
"Never mistake activity for achievement."

"I had three rules for my players: No profanity. Don't criticize a teammate. Never be late."
"If a player's not doing the things he should, put him on the bench. He'll come around."
"What am I proudest of? After we'd won a championship, a reporter asked one of my players what kind of racial problems we had on the team. The player said, "You don't know our coach, do you?""

Personal power is the fundamental definition of the modern Republican; not power to the people.
You define team as in a military organization or commune where the self is subservient the dear leader. Sorry, Democrats, Progressives and Independents are not into that.

You obviously have never been a member of a team. It is not a collection of individuals that just do what they want. It is a group that works towards a common purpose.
YOU describe a group that does not accept a common purpose, so seeks to undermine that purpose. Thus, the team fails.
...or loses elections. Haven't you wondered how we progressives, who clearly desire better for the common person, keep LOSING?? By the votes of those same common people??
DO YOU LIKE LOSING? Is it MORE IMPORTANT to puff out your chest, feel great, AND LOSE?

The far left of the Democratic party is eating itself alive. If Obama is as bad as they say he is, then we might as well throw in the towel right now because there is no way we can win 2012. Obama will lose in a landslide Republican victory when the far left has demoralized the party completely and pulled another Nadar. Then what do you get? Eight more years of Republicans. What will be left (pun intended) of America then? How would the world be different now if Al Gore had been President instead of George Bush -- we would be in a different world. Imagine what the world would have looked like if John McCain had become President instead of Obama...
No one capable of winning an election for President of the United States can satisfy the needs of the far left. This is because to get elected president, you have to take and retain the center. You need the independents. If we are going to move the nation to the left as a whole (the dream of the far left), then we can't do it in a Presidential election (or even in Congress). We have to do it in grassroots movements. Meanwhile, Obama is as good as it gets. Obama keeps us from another Iraq, Obama keeps us from war with Iran, Obama does things like hold the line on Pell grants and say no to the complete destruction of social security and medicare. Obama does things like get the banks out of the student loan business (90 billion dollars of college aid money there). Obama attempts to scale down rather than scale up global conflict. Obama gives you a law that prevents insurance companies from discriminating against sick people (!). Obama is defending the perimeter in a political climate that is far more hostile to progressive causes than anyone on the far left can stand to believe. Wake up left and see how weak our grip on power is... See clearly the context in which we live. When we leave the starbucks in midtown manhattan and travel to Denny's in central PA or Ohio or West Virginia (yes, these people vote), we will be entering another universe where different rules apply entirely. We have a question for the far left: how did the Republicans massively take control of the House if they are so far out of sync with American voters? How did arch conservative Pat Toomey become the Republican Senator from Pennsylvania?
Is it because the Republicans are crazy, evil and stupid?
Message to the far left from the Center left, you are about to drive the nation over a cliff with your unreasonable expectations of what this President can/should be able to accomplish at this political moment.
