So who else has seen the film, Bloody Sunday?
A great movie which profoundly moved me and infuriated me. Bless those who fell at Derry, bless em. A lot of them were my age, 17 when they had their lives cut short.

1. I've seen it
the movie that pissed me off the most is "In the Name of the Father." What an amazing movie that was.

3. Its about Gerry Conlon and Guilford Four
these men were wrongly accused of pub bombing. Daniel Day Lewis is amazing in this movie.

9. Wasn't that an incredible movie?
Watching the evolution of Conlon's character and the growth of his relationship with his father was so moving.

I love the movie, Cry Freedom but I havent been able to see all of it because I was sick the first day they showed it in class, and I was there for the 2nd, and for the third, I was in DC. Cry Freedom is about South Africa btw.

12. Great movie, about Steven Biko.
Kevin Kline did an incredible acting job in that movie, as did Denzel Washington. Another movie you should rent, John, to see it in its entirety.

16. Saw Bloody Sunday when it played locally.
I forget who wrote the screenplay, but it played very much like a dramatization of Those Are Real Bullets, an account of the shootings from two journalists whose notes were subsequently subpoenaed by the Saville commission.

Those Are Real Bullets will flesh out the stories of some of the victims of Bloody Sunday, such as Barney McGuigan. The film Bloody Sunday focuses a good deal more on the reformist Protestant politician (I forget his name right now) played by James Nesbitt.

I should also mention that Bloody Sunday is filmed more or less in the Dogma 95 style, which means no soundtrack (well, in this case, not until the closing credits), natural light where possible, etc. In short, it comes off like a documentary.

Of course I've also seen In the Name of the Father, which was simply heart-rending.

I wonder if anyone else here is old enough to remember A War of Children, a TV movie on the Troubles, which was made during the '70s. Jenny Agutter was one of the leads.

19. I saw Bloody Sunday with my husband and two of his
friends and their wives.

My husband was born and raised in Co. Down as were his two friends and they can tell you stories that would curl your hair. In fact the reason my husband emigrated to Chicago was to get away from the Brits and their harrassment of him and his family.

Yes, I do remember "A War of Children". It was pretty shocking to me at the time, but after I met my husband and realized what was going on in the "Wee Six", it didn't shock me at all.

21. Saw it, own it.
Disturbing and sad. But the way things are reported in the states would never leave any indications that the brits are state terrorists.

25. I loved it
It was very instructional. I was helping to organize some protests against the Iraq war and Bush when I saw it. It gave me some insight on how things can get out of hand in those situations. I think it did a good job of showing mistakes made by marchers, people trying to incite violence and the police as well.
