Hello fellow comic book weirdo's(geeks!) I hope you all had a great 2009. :)
Currently for my new years resolution I'm going to reread all my graphic novels, starting with The Dark Knight Returns.
:)
What are you resolutions?(comic book wise?)

1. To shed more Marvel dead weight from my box at the comic shop! |
|
I've been a fan of the X-men for 20 years (god, has it been that long?) but the recent storylines in the last year pretty much has me giving up on everything except Astonishing X-men, which you'll note takes place outside of current Marvel continuity anyway. Dark Reign was the final straw. Way too many crossovers, and I felt like I was missing a lot of information I needed to understand what exactly was going on. Back when there was only a handful of X-titles, I could handle it, but there's what, 20 now? Forget it. I'm even dumping Wolverine, since the current plot line for the last several months hasn't even had the title character in the damn book. I could care less about Daken - what a horrible idea.
Boy, that was a rant.
Uh, I do intend to keep reading just about everything Warren Ellis puts out, and look forward to the next TPBs of Powers, Scalped and so on. I think I may re-read Transmetropolitan - it's been a while since I've revisited Spider Jerusalem.

2. I lost all interest in Wolverine when he became infinitely indestructible |
|
I mean, I'm okay with the quick-healing and the unbreakable bones, but now that they've established that he can completely regenerate all of his soft tissue in the space of a few panels, I have to call bullshit. Not to mention the endless and unendurable spin-off characters of whom Deadpool is only the most pandering and obvious.
By making Wolvie effectively impervious to all harm, they completely and permanently destroyed him as a character. The best thing they could do to the character now would be to kill him permanently, regardless of how much money they can still wring out of him.
