My husband is a lawyer and I don't trust him. He's been cheating on me he's said for 6 months, but who really knows how long since I don't trust him.
We are going the lawyer/mediator route first and I've been reading everything I can to catch up to a lawyer who's had one divorce already.
I'm proud of myself. Somehow someone's watching over me and my stronger, lawyerish person has done the right things for me and I'm holding my own against his knowledge and snakey ways.
I'm taking my time. I'm staying in the house. I'm not making a final decision til we get a settlement agreement. I'm taking care of me and my future because he quit caring about those a ways back.

I'm staying put until a settlement agreement is signed. I'd recommend taking your time. The marriage was a long one...why should it end in perhaps haste and rapid changes in your lifestyle?
Thank you for your sympathies though. Very appreciated.

2. I hope you've got YOUR OWN LAWYER. |
|
My husb and I are BOTH lawyers. Don't make no difference. He thinks he knows it all, and I know that he DOESN'T! Neither of us practice in this jurisdiction.
PLEASE protect yourself.

I'm going to go the mediator route first and know that I can get a lawyer in collaborative law.

6. Consulting a lawyer would inform you of the several options, |
|
how they work, how your husb might take advantage of you one way or another.
I understand and appreciate your approach, but I would feel better knowing that you'd consulted with an attorney. How, for example, did you learn about the 'mediator' route, and decide to use it?
GOOD LUCK!
