Hi Mrs. Grumpy!:hi:
'bout me: TDS is my only source of "Mainstream" info!
I live and work in Manhattan, recent College grad.
The daily show shows me there is some sanity left to the world, in a weird, ironic, this week in god sorta way!

2. Greetings, all! I have no use for "real" TV news anymore. |
|
Sadly, the Fake News is a whole lot more accurate! :) Especially here in red-state Kansas. This should be a fun group!

I'm glad to see this group was started. I almost always look for a thread on the Daily Show after I watch it to see what everyone else thought so now I'll know where exactly to look.

What's up with the new furniture?
I liked the old furniture better.
I'm confused.

22. Lewis Black is like Jon's "dark side" |
|
I love the way the show is balanced:
1) Lewis Black expresses the anger and outrage
2) The correspondents ridicule the ridiculous, and embarrass the embarrassing. WHY DO PEOPLE AGREE TO BE INTERVIEWED BY THEM??
If any Freepers are reading this, please accept this un-solicited advice: You do NOT want someone from The Daily Show to interview you at home. If Jon wants you in the studio, that is GOOD. If Samantha Bee wants to sit across from your desk at work, that is BAD. You're better off being audited by the IRS.
3) Jon uses a much softer, perhaps even deceptively good-natured approach during his interviews. Even when he told the idiots on Crossfire that they were "hurting America," he did it with amazing soft-spokenness and even self-deprecation. "How sad is it when you have to compare yourself to fake news? I do fake news. I am an entertainer."
It comes across as "good-natured ribbing," even when it obviously isn't.
And he used the same approach even with Bill O'Reilly. I sometimes wonder if Jon has to go home and pummel a punching bag.

9. My kids turned me on to TDS |
|
a year or so ago and my husband and I have been hooked ever since. We're 49, four grown kids (20 to 25), empty nest except for four dogs, and big fans of Jon Stewart. I got his book in hardback and CD and laughed outloud as I listened on my commute. I can't seem to get the hardback back from my daughter so I can look at the pictures! :D

Stewart has really taken off.....
I so totally loved him on Crossfire...
He called bowtie Tucker a dick...to his face!
The man's got chutzpah!!
Stewart gives more news on his fake news show that all the MSM put together!!!!

I love Jon Stewart, love the show. It is the one show that my husband and I routinely watch together. I started knowing about Jon way, way back when I would see him on the Tom Snyder show and then he had a show after Tom. It was at the time my babies would wake me up. I would get them out of the crib, latch them on, grab a gallon of Breyers Ice Cream and turn on Jon. He has always been one of my favorites. I am so glad he is getting the accolades he so deserves.

12. TDS. The only news show to watch. |
|
John Stewart is funny as hell. And even though they are fake, they are the most accurate news source.

20. I agree, these are the most accurate news sources on television |
|
It's pretty sad, when you think about it, since one of them is fake.
I also used to like Bill Maher on HBO, and Al Franken, on Sundance, but who knows when they'll be back?
If no one ever welcomed you to DU, AmyJCNJ, we're glad to have you with us!:hi:

15. Idea - Daily Show DVD |
|
I think Comedy Central should start releasing previous seasons of The Daily Show on DVD. I just emailed Comedy Central. Maybe if enough of us do it they'll pick up on the idea and do it. I'd love to watch all the shows I missed in years past. Any other suggestions?

I actually tried looking for them when I first signed up for Netflix, not knowing they didn't yet exist. I'd love to look back at Indecision 2000 coverage! I'm off to e-mail Comedy Central...

I gave him a TROGDOR!!! t-shirt for Christmas.

I started watching TDS during the 2000 Repug convention, and fell instantly in love. They were totally anonymous then, and able to freely wreak havoc.
I'd love to have both conventions and maybe a highlight of both the 2000 and 2004 campaigns on DVD.
