Steven Colbert says such rotten, scathing, anti-personal things |
|
He is really hitting his stride. The first week seemed a bit strained--the Stone Philips segment was a let down (if you ever sat naked on a hotel bedspread, you are going to want to hear this next story).
Anyway, he has been attracting top line guests. His intro monologue is as surreal as anything Python ever did and then he transitions into "The Word". With those text captions, I am doubling over with laughter.
Last night, he congratulated the Canadian Liberals for lowering political discourse in ads by making their neighbor to the south the bogeyman for attacking the Tories. Paul Martin is running ads calling his opponent, Steven Harper, "the George Bush of Canada".

The whole thing on making deals with the devil.
That was hard-hitting shit.
They are aiming incredibly high, comedically speaking, and hitting more than they miss.
Great show and it deserves every bit as much respect as TDS.
