Republican Legislative Accomplishments

OK, I admit it. I am lazy and came to DU to ask this question. I posted this in the DU lounge, but I figured I may get more responses in the Congress topic thread.

I know I could go through all of the voting in the House & Senate over the past 20 - 30 years, but I am looking for one ...ONE ... piece of legislation that the Republicans have authored or sponsored that has actually helped Americans.

Anybody have a list handy? I know it will be a very very short list.

I'd really like to be able show my conservative friends proof that republicans are not interested in helping Americans.

1. Some might consider Medicare Part D (drug program) to have helped. However, since it was not funded

I think it may have hurt the country more than helped.

6. Richard Nixon abolished the Gold Standard, if that counts

I mean really... all that gold could be used as electrical conductors in devices like cell phones and put to use rather than the archaic tradition of letting the fruits of Nigerian child labor sit underground as ingots for all eternity. In addition, Gold is pretty much intrinsically worthless, requiring an active mining and smelting infrastructure for something that has little industrial use. Fiat too is intrinsically worthless, but at least it's cheap to produce. The only reason for the gold standard was pretty much "OMFG SHINY ROCKS!!!" Really, who made up this bullshit that gold is an infallibly secure investment... or worse, what teabaggers buy into this nonsense hawked on Glenn Beck's show? All it takes is one zombie apocalypse to make the bullet our primary medium of monetary exchange... shiny rocks make a noticeable glare to zombies, after all.
