Tough question about writing unfriendly legislators and time.

I live in AZ, and my senators are Kyl and McCain, and while we have Dems in the House, none of them represent me, naturally.

After probably 100 personal letters, Kyl doesn't know me from Adam and of course he's never voted the way I wanted him to and I'm more than reasonably sure he never will. Obviously, they know I'm no source of funds for them either.

So I guess I'm asking what is the best use of my time?

How can those of us in similar situations help most effectively?

I know with this forum I will try to keep on top of pending legislation.

It's really frustrating being in a lost cause scenario!

1. Yeah, I know how you feel.

Senator Frist is mine. The first time I wrote him he sent me a nice form letter reply. The 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th times I got Nada. I'm pretty sure they got me labeled and don't even read anything I send them.

I live next door in New Mexico, and the impression I get, after sending endless letters, is that almost no legislator actually reads them, but some underling does and keeps a tally of whether it's "pro" or "con" on a issue.

After years of spending a lot of time trying to composed powerful, well written arguments, I've decided that all that really counts is saying "please support" or "please oppose." And it helps if you can cite, or imply that a lot of people you know feel the same. Save the masterpieces for LTTEs.
