Tonight I shall kick back with Everything Bad For You: big steak, potatoes, corn on the cob slathered in butter, wine, for dessert probably the usual Grand Marnier with coffee back, unfiltered Lucky Strikes...
...and I'm going to watch the digitally re-mastered DVD of Gone In 60 Seconds.
No, NOT that CGI-laden, nonsensical, updated POS with Cage and the Poster Girl For The Collagen Industry.
The ORIGINAL! Mr. Toby Halicki's balls-to-the-wall 1974 romp through Long Beach, with 50 cars destroyed on-screen in 40 minutes! (And missing the original soundtrack, but what the heck.)
So, cyber-speaking, anyone want to join me?
What's your favorite Motorhead Movie? Vanishing Point? Bullitt? Dirty Mary & Crazy Larry? The "Bandit" franchise? Gumball Rally?
Or to get a little more modern, how about Ronin, with that screaming Audi duking it out with the Citroens?
Ladies and gentlemen, start your engines...and video machines!

| 1. Not Really A Motorhead Movie, But... |
|
the street racing scene from "Against All Odds" ranks right up there as one of the best.

Ronin
Grand Prix (Have they released this on DVD yet? Every time I remember to check, it's not made it.)
Bulitt
Rendezvous (not in general video stores, but availble from places on the web specializing in "car buff" videos - an almost ground level camera mounted on the front of a Ferrari takes you about 9 minutes of an insane midnight ride through the streets of paris. The video's very pricey - about $50 on VHS.)
Pascal's insane ride through la periferique. Google this one and download the higher rez high bandwidth version...it's about 50 megs. A guy tank mounts a camera on a superbike and rides la periferique (the ring road around Paris) in about 12 minutes...speeds up to around 180 mph in traffic...absolutely insane. Decinitely have your cheeks clenching the chair.
