1. My only experience is with blogger.com, but...
lots of people love typepad.

Also, if you already have a website, you can add a blog feature.

I've stayed with blogger.com because it's free, and I've figured out how to circumvent its bugs, tweak the template, and add features blogger doesn't offer.

Let me know if you find something better.

Right now I'm considering changing the skin on my blog... if blogger.com will let me.
