need help identifying the authenticity of an arrowhead *HELP*

need help identifying the authenticity of an arrowhead *HELP*
supposedly found in macdowell county, north carolina.

it is carved out of clear quartz.

does this sound legit?

will post a pic as soon as i can--

any info would be greatly appreciated.

....if this particular one is authentic or not....however, Native Americans have carved arrowheads out of quartz.

'Quartz was in common use among the North American Indian centuries before the white man came among them. Arrowheads, knives, and ornaments of quartz have been found in the investigated mounds. Quartz crystals surmounting ceremonial wands have been unearthed in Southern California.. The Cherokee used them for divining stones. In Ife (West Africa) there are still ceremonial stools carved from a solid piece of quartz. Among the Hottentots, where iron is tabu to the priest, he uses a sharp quartz implement for sacrificing animals and circumcising young boys.'

2. thanks for the info and the link
i have been told by a couple of serious collectors that this one is real.

this was one of three found in the sugarhill section of marion, nc.

this guy gave it to me and i did not believe him. he is a VERY big collector and

has enough arrowheads to fill SEVERAL musesums. still, i wanted to research this

one for myself. :hi:
