| Does anyone else here have actinic prurigo (hereditary PMLE) |
|
I'm allergic to the sun. I have actinic prurigo, a hereditary form of polymorphous light eruption (a.k.a. "PMLE") that occurs in American Indian populations. I get small, itchy red bumps on my arms and legs when I'm in the sun. Every year around this time I have to start watching out how much time I spend in the sun. Basically I have to build up a tolerance by going outside for a few minutes at a time and gradually building that time up so I can tolerate being out in the sun long enough to do stuff like walk the dogs.
I've seen statistics saying that upwards of 10 -15% of American Indians have some form of PMLE and that it affects women more than men. So, I was wondering who else around here has it?
