I need help vetting a rumor that is building up steam (re: Obama and Peltier)

A few different sites and blogs ( I dont want to mention which ones by name) that have been working for the freedom of Leonard Peltier are starting to mention that Obama has said that he would (everything from consider the case of Leonard Peltier, to outright free him). I have delayed posting this because I want to try to find out where this rumor is coming from and what the official stance of Senator Obama is on this matter.

Please do not spread this rumor until we can verify or debunk it. I just want to warn you to be careful if you should hear this mentioned in the next week or so.

Please also post any info that you come across about this matter in a reply on this board. I am still trying to speak with the writers of the blogs in question and have sent a question to the Obama campaign.

I do not want to be jerked around on this matter.

1. Here in Indian Country...

...where Peltier is always a topic, I haven't heard a peep. I personally think they are just rumors at this point.

2. It is a rumor, the website that posted it has removed the story

Sorry to get everyone's hopes up. I had waited a week hoping to hear back from the website, and I finally saw where he removed teh claim. He was also removed from the website where he was a regular poster.

I wish I could have found this out before I posted it. I will still try to get the info relative to the issue into the hands of some people who are on Obama's campaign. I know he wont make that pledge, but maybe he can take a look at some info.
