Found God in time for his parole hearing? A familiar story I guess.

the site shows a letter he wrote to Gov. Pataki saying he doesn't ever want parole.

| 4. I read an interview with someone |
|
Who had a chance to talk to Berkowitz and he says that he is one of the few prisoners he has interviewed who truly seems to have "found Christ". Berkowitz does not want to ever get out and has expressed that feeling many times over.

If only he'd listened to Jebus instead of his neighbor's dog...
(Usual Disclaimer: as an atheist, I think it would have been just as easy for him to "hear" one as the other...)

| 7. I actually had 2 of those 'six degrees of separation' phenomenas.. |
|
with David Berkowitz. (6 degrees of separation suggests that a chain of six people each of whom know the next person in the chain, can ultimately connect to anyone in one's country.)
I worked with a guy whose gf went to grade school with Berkowitz. More significantly, one of the last boys shot was a friend of my sister-in-law's family. I never met him, but I think my brother did. He was one of the few victims to survive.
I was always surprised that the Mafia didn't get to him first. The Brooklyn neighborhood where he shot several of his victims was heavily mobbed up in those days. Berkowitz aside, it was probably the safest area in NYC at the time.
I believe he is sincere abt not wanting to be released. He was nuts, not a sociopath, and I guess after being properly medicated he realized that if released, he could go off his meds and wig out again.I don't admire him of course, but I do give him credit for developing that insight & acting on it.
