Does it seem that more woman are into true crime then men? Not that I care, but it's just something that I have noticed. I have been into it for years and it seems like the only ones who will talk with me about it are woman..lol. I was just wondering what you all thought.

| 1. This is anecdotal evidence |
|
but yes, there does seem to be morer women into TC than men, but I do know a few men.
They were more into the subset of TC, serial killers.

I have a little cottage business of selling true crime titles. 98% of my customers are women. The only time I sell to men are when the books deal with homosexual killers whose victims were male (Corll, Gacy, Kraft, etc) or with the Manson family. No exceptions. I noticed this phenomena a long time ago. I have always joked that my interest in true crime is the way that I get in touch with my feminine side.

To be honest, most of my male friends don't seem to have any interests any more. If it isn't sports or maybe horror flix, they just seem to hang out and drink beer..lol. I have a lot of interests, maybe too many at times. I would rather watch a good true crime show on television than the baseball game. I think that a lot of males just won't cop to the fact that they like to watch the true crime stuff for some reason. I don't have a real answer on this though.

| 4. I think it may be somewhat cathartic to scare oneself |
|
since most of the victims are female. Maybe the same reason that it is predominately men who watch prison movies and "Deliverance"

about red flags to watch out for. To try to learn what makes them tick.

family. We women watch all the TV true crime shows we can find. The men couldn't care less about them.
My husband once started watching that show with me (darn! What's it called? I suddenly can't remember) in which for the first half hour, the town in which the murder took place is shown and its history and culture discussed.
When the murder became the focus of the show, he said, "Hey, I thought this was the travel channel!" and got up and left the room.
