|
freedom, be it freedom from slavery, discrimination against women, blacks, etc., and pretty much every gain we've had.
It's not always fighting in uniform.
Sometimes it's fighting through marches, letters, petitions, protests, or other actions.
It's not sitting in the back of the bus.
It's sitting at the lunch counter when you're not wanted.
Stuff like that.
I get what you were saying, but just thought I'd throw another perspective out there.

|
I was in the city having dinner with a bunch of friends who were all Hillary supporters. Thank gawd I only had good things to say about her after her speech Tuesday night. They think Obama is 'all smoke and mirrors'. I asked them if they'd seen Michelle's speech Monday night and they hadn't. I said, tell me whether its all smoke and mirrors after you hear that speech, and of course, the one tonight. They are the Huxtables baby.

a surprise appearance on stage. I missed it in real time, it'll be a little anticlimactic to watch it after tonight's speech but it'll still be thrilling.
I can't help but wonder what clusterfuck of hate the Republicans are working on as follow up next week. You know they get all their material from us, and then put it through the trash compacters that serve as hearts and minds for their party, distorting any message of hope into a screed of jingoistic, fascistic crappola. I'm so looking forward to it.

Jeez, people. I'll see all the best speeches on YouTube. I don't need to see them on MSNBC. And Keith's leaking a bit of the Obama speech isn't going to ruin it one bit for me.
As for the supposed bickering amongst the personalities...that's a Faux Noise talking point designed to make Keith look bad. Because the bickering is ALL Keith's fault for trying to run MSNBC, ya know???? :-(
OK, enough, I'm shutting up. History is being made here.

I have been avoiding the MSM (even Keith because too many assholes on with him) watching C-Span and even avoiding DU the last few days. I wanted the Convention without feedback. Well except for my mom, lol, who called to tell me she wanted her President back (Clinton), then that she wanted her President to serve(Gore) and she wanted her other President (Kerry) to serve too. Oh and was I listening to her friend Rockefeller and then got the whole story about how he paid to bring his people to DC to help with something or other. Ok she was in government most of my life and I can't keep up on the behind the scenes stuff of who did what that was good or bad all the time. I do remember getting to walk around DC as a kid waiting for her to get done her meetings with whoever then getting to go where ever that trip instead of going to school. No wonder I am a political geek.
I did not expect to get teary eyed tonight during Obama's speech though and neither did she. He won us 100% and I hope this country has more intelligent people than I think it does because if McCain loses I might just have to find another country to live in.
Edited to add- I was already looking into Panama if I have to leave. Mom is still swearing by Vancouver where she threatened to go when the idiot was appointed.

I completely expected to get teary-eyed. I've been crying since Monday, and I didn't think it would stop tonight. I love Keith, and I love Rachel, and Eugene Robinson, and I even like Pat Buchanan, but I just didn't need their help while it was on.

Costa Rica. lol Plus they don't tax foreign income. Yes I have really been looking into it that much.
I started as an Edwards supporter, then Hillary, then Obama. Though a supporter and arguing with the idiots around me he really won me over 100 percent tonight and gave me more the hammer into the idiots here heads. Also no way, no how McSame can even attempt to match tonight.
Also BS on the Roman amp thing. That backdrop was made to make you see Obama in front of the Whitehouse and for those that have a hard time with it to subliminally ease their worries his occupying it. (That was just mentioned again.)
Edited to add- really look at it, specially at the end with all the families on stage.

| 154. Don't mind me, folks, I'm just cranky because I have read WAAAY too much criticism |

of Keith and MSNBC this week, the vast majority of it from Dems. Aside from all the crap from the other side trying to blow out of proportion any disagreement anyone has on air into "oh dear, MSNBC anchors are bickering constantly, it's all that mean nasty Keith Olbermann's fault for having taken over the whole network so he decides who lives and who dies."
All the convention junkies and ultra-wonks just want to watch C-SPAN where they can get it all uninterrupted and without comment. Sure, they're entitled to their opinions, but frankly, if all I wanted to do was sit and watch a bunch of speeches, I'd try to become a delegate myself. I don't know, maybe I'm not enough of a political junkie.
This way, I get the best of both worlds: I get to see every moment of Keith, I get to see Tweety's best self miraculously come out, I get to sit and anticipate the moment Pat finally can't stand it anymore and bursts out with "Rachel you ignorant dyke," I get to see Rachel look at him when he says something stupid as if to say "Are you on drugs??" And then I can find out which speeches were the best and most worthwhile, and look them up on YouTube later. That way, I miss nothing.
Anyway, this was one speech I will NEVER forget. Just unbelievable. The Repugs shouldn't just postpone their convention, they should cancel it--and concede the election now. I know they won't think so, but they might as well.
