What the hell is Keith talking about, that his mother's death has become part of an ugly Internet rumor? Surely he can't be talking about those idiots at Uncyclopedia and their stupid unfunny version of wiki?

| 11. Source of stupid rumor found...it's the shitheads at Gawker: |
|
http://gawker.com/5254804/was-keith-olbermann-jealous-of-rachel-maddows-ben-affleck-bookingKeith Olbermann is denying a report from CityFile that he threw a hissyfit last month and called in sick for three days because Rachel Maddow booked Ben Affleck, and Olbermann wanted him all to himself.
Olbermann—who has acknowledged a short fuse and an ego that fires "on all cylinders"—missed three days of work without explanation in late April. According to CityFile, the reason was that his protege Maddow nabbed Affleck and refused to hand him over:
According to a source at the network, Olbermann was livid when he learned that Rachel Maddow had booked Ben Affleck as a guest on her show. Olbermann, it turns out, had been interested in having Affleck on his show, too, and when he heard that Maddow's producers had secured the actor instead, he demanded that the interview be switched from Maddow's nine o'clock broadcast to his own an hour earlier.... Olbermann took the matter to senior management at MSNBC and NBC Universal and asked that they step in and "correct" the situation. That didn't happen, though, and Affleck went on Maddow's show as scheduled on Thursday, April 16. And Olbermann's three-day protest commenced the next day.
After Wonkette linked to CityFile's account, MSNBC spokeswoman Alana Russo sent the site a denial from Olbermann, who explained the absence by saying "that was my first opportunity to take even a long weekend to mourn my mother's death and deal with the many sad logistics subsequent to her sudden passing. The source of this story is a liar and those who spread it without seeking confirmation or refutation are beneath contempt." Olbermann's mother died on Saturday, April 4. He worked the following week, and most of the week after that.
While it seems odd for Olbermann to invoke his mother's death to explain an absence from work when he had shown up for nearly two weeks immediately after her passing, we don't dispute that the man was entitled to time off whenever it suited it him.
But one thing doesn't jibe: As CityFile pointed out, in April Olbermann's fill-in host David Shuster posted a message to Twitter, apparently in response to a curious fan, explaining that the absence was "nothing serious, but, it's flu/allergy season." So, which is it?
We asked Russo for an explanation, but she had no comment for the record.Idjits...if memory serves, he was at a FREAKIN' BASEBALL GAME. :grr:

Can you feel the love??
OK, I have looked at our show threads and Keith's blog and verified: the night David Shuster tweeted during Countdown and said "It is cold and flu season" was April 21...THE NIGHT KEITH WENT WITH HIS NEPHEW TO YANKEE STADIUM AND HE GOT THE BAT!!
Why doesn't Keith just admit that? The proof is all over his blog!!

She brought up "her choice of eyewear" earlier in an analogy during the Sarah Palin discussion. At the end of her appearance, after he gave the "Margaret Carlson, blah blah blah, thanks for your time," the last thing he said was "I like the glasses."

Velma was trying to make the point that having free speech doesn't give you the right to protection from other people's free speech, because if it did, she wouldn't have all that email she gets from people who are apparently criticizing her glasses. And Keith said he likes the glasses.
Ohhhh, Keith. Flirt, flirt, flirt.

Keith was absent on Friday the 17th--official opening day of Yankee Stadium, watching the Indians go down to defeat. Then he was out Monday the 20th, during which there were no ball games, and Tuesday the 21st, during which he attended the Yankees game. He was also off the 13th--the Mets' home opener at the new Citi Field.
All but ONE DAY--ONE FRIGGIN' DAY--can be explained in two words: BASEBALL HOOKY!!!!
And on the 20th, he mourned!!!
Sheesh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :grr:

For all he knew, Keith was still feeling poorly on the 21st. He didn't know Keith was at the ballgame with his nephew, but had he known, I'm sure he would've said "I hope he's having a great time."
It was really lucky for him, because the previous night's game, when Keith was sick, was rained out.
And I officially apologize to you, David, for accusing you of trying to cover for Keith while he watched baseball. :-)

Gawker just repeated it, as did Wonkette apparently, which means Jossip did as well, I'm sure, and I'm shocked Page Six got scooped. *sigh* I never heard of this crappy Cityfile before. Oh well.
Anyway, I'm glad Keith told the whole story, and explained about "hitting the wall" and being sick, which just fleshed it out more, along with the baseball hooky (of which his mom would no doubt have approved thoroughly).
These people disgust me.

Olbermann Watch-planted farce:
Olbermann's temper—and tendency to hold grudges—is nothing new. When Dan Abrams was the host of the 9pm broadcast, Olbermann famously refused to "toss," or introduce, Abrams on the air, as he now does with Maddow. At Olbermann's insistence, five seconds of footage of the exterior of 30 Rock appeared between the two programs instead. What did Abrams do to earn Olbermann's enmity? Nothing, really, although one popular rumor floating around MSNBC at the time was that they'd both asked out the same woman a number of years ago and she'd accepted Abrams's invite instead of Olbermann's.
Oh boy, what a bunch of crapola. They even invented a new "explanation" to make Keith look bad for something that is NOT EVEN TRUE. Even though the rumors have been spread for ages by people with poor memories.
For crying out loud!! I have RECORDINGS of TONS of Countdowns from back when Abrams had his show after Keith's. You can see Keith tossing to him on ALL OF THEM except for when Dan's show wasn't on because it was Friday Lockup Night or when he did a Special Comment and just wanted to end it cold, and you'd see the camera switch to Dan in his studio looking stunned like "How do I follow THAT up?" But Keith NEVER "refused to throw to him" or "insisted that five seconds of footage of the exterior of 30 Rock" be inserted between their shows. What bullshit!!!!
