This was nowhere near enough on Obama's part, but it's not less than nothing either. Something is still something. Should everyone who just got these benefits turn them down on principle? Also, it seems a little teeny bit disingenous on KO's part to rail at him in the opener for not giving health benefits and then burying the fact that DOMA prevents him from giving full health benefits.

I didn't picture it being him somehow.

Anyway, I do like the ads. I imagine they're hard to relate to if you're actually FROM Michigan, but what I find interesting about them is that they don't really say (as most tourism ads do), "Come to our state and see and do this." Not explicitly. They just say "Get away from where you are and come here because...well...you need a break from being where you are."

I read something the governor wrote about the ads and she mentioned it was him.

Visually they do a really good job of making you want to come here.

50. They make someone who's not from there feel like just running away from home.

I think the most effective one is the one about how "we become most ourselves when we go to a place where no one knows us." It taps right into the reason why people go on vacation: to get away from their everyday lives. And if all you want out of a vacation is a break from your everyday life, it really doesn't matter where you go, so long as it's not where you are and it has some nice golf greens and fishing lakes and pretty, peaceful places. In short, if you're not from Michigan, you might as well go to Michigan.
