My kidneys have come back Thank God. Unfortunately my feet are numb. I got caught with my feet pressed up against the base of the toilet and a plastic trash can and my wheel chair for 12 hours. So its my own damn fault! I got rhambolysis, which sent my kidneys into acute failure. I swelled up so badly I couldn't breath. I really don't remember the first two weeks in the ICU. One of the nurses told me I was wheezing so loudly trying to breath, they could hear me all the way across the ICU. I had to have hemo dialysis because I swelled up like a balloon. They took at least 70 liters of fluid off me and I am still fighting it. I've been in two nursing homes trying to get myself back together. So you can see its been a difficult few months for me and I still require a lot of care.

1. Oh Gogi! What an awful experience for you. |

I'm glad to hear your kidneys are functioning well again, but it does sound like you have a long way yet.
Have you thought about getting one of those monitoring systems (you know the ones, with the pendant you wear to call for help)? I know the commercials are pretty silly, but my mom had one of those systems and believe me, we were all glad she did.
Anyway, I'm sending you vibes for continued healing.

Glad your kidneys are back, but dear, how did you end up in that position for 12 hours? No one could help you? This isn't all that different from when Keith's dad fell out of bed!
You need someone to be with you day and night...if you don't have that situation normally, you need to have it! You can't afford to be without someone long enough for that to happen.
I was once a live-in assistant for a woman who had a home health aide during the day who did the brunt of her care and the cleaning and so on but also needed someone around at night and in the morning. It was a great situation because I got free room and board and could still have a job. I just needed to be around nights and mornings, and sometimes her family would come in and give me some time off. Sounds like you could use someone like that once you're back home.
Please keep us posted!
