Sheesh, people. I go to a dinner last night that I've committed to weeks earlier, then as it so happens I find out just before the dinner that my cable AND Internet are on the fritz and I won't be able to tape Countdown, and then La Tur shows up on Keith's show and you can't find me and you all assume I'm off killing myself somewhere????
Question: Why me, in particular? Why act like I'm the only person who would find the presence of Ms. Tur on the program questionable?
Now, to elaborate: I finally did watch the show online with my WiFi, and Lordy, if they didn't come up with a legit excuse to put La Tur on the air, IF you were paying attention: She was there because SHE WAS COMMUNICATING WITH THE ALLEGED CABBIE STABBER before he allegedly stabbed the cabbie. He had seen her reporting the Park 51 stuff on TV, or his organization had, and decided that SHE might be interested in the film he was making about his buddy in the service. THAT's how MSNBC, Keith, etc., was able to justify putting her on the air as a "knowledgeable" reporter to discuss stuff only SHE was privy to with Mr. O.
Last night, I was seriously thinking this was going to make her reporting career. But on further reflection...there's really not much to it. A few phone calls, a few emails. I suspect she'll be subpoenaed to provide her emails and/or asked to testify about the substance of their phone calls if and when the guy goes to court. But that's about all. Still, it does show that like her golden parents, Ms. Tur seems to have inadvertently found a way to not just cover the story, but become Part Of The Story.
"My dear friend Katy Tur"...oh please.
Oh, one more thing, for what it's worth: Mediaite is reporting that the two of them broke up more than a year ago. Which is something they just may confirm, if they get enough other crap heaped on them from RW websites about the propriety of him interviewing her.
OK. I got Larry the Cable Guy to wait for now, so I bid you adieu. :-)
