Man, I could use someone to talk to. |
|
I've been ill with chronic sinusitis for two months now and some bad personal shit has gone down because of it. I need to talk to someone, but the more I learn about people, the more I love my parrot. :|

1. Sorry you are having a bad time of it, |
|
glad you have a parrot to talk to. I love my dog because she never suggests I quit taking all my medications (like anyone should just quit drugs that are required to keep them alive!), or tries to tell me I could feel better if I just tried to, and she listens very seriously and sympathetically if I talk to her. Dogs would make better doctors than most people.
I have chronic sinusitis but it rarely bothers me anymore. I took allergy shots for a long time and then ten or fifteen years later, had allergy tests again and took sublingual drops. Otherwise I might still have a lot of problems with my sinuses.
I remember the pain very well, though, so I know what you're going through in the sinus department.
Hope you feel better tomorrow. :hi:

4. I just started using a neti pot |
|
(albiet improvised) I got a URI in November after flying home from Europe (f'ing airplanes=germ factories!!) since then I have struggled to get rid of this damn thing. Tried a round of antibiotics, cleared it up, but then it came back. I think it has morphed into allergies (Our winter has been very mild here)
SO....after going to the doc for the 3rd time yesterday, I decided to try a neti pot this morning. I must say after one use, my nose feels better already. Supposedly the warm salt water hydrates the nasal passages and clears out the bacteria and irritants.
It's cheap, easy to use -- so far I am pretty impressed. :hi:

5. Neti pots work really well for me, too. I used to have bad |
|
problems with chronic sinusitis when I lived in North Carolina, but it hasn't been bad since I moved to Georgia. I think there was mold under our condo in NC; also it was much colder and we had to use our heaters a lot more. I also read that taking acidophilous to combat the yeast overgrowth caused by taking antibiotics was beneficial and I started taking it. It has helped a lot. You could use yougurt or kefir if you eat dairy products.

6. I get mine out when my sinuses get bad. |
|
They really help clear it out. Hubby trained under an ENT doc who said everyone should do it once a day.

Sorry you're feeling so crappy and that you've got bad stuff going on because of it...
I'm going to put in the 4th rec for a neti pot, in case you don't already have one!
Hang in there, and know that there are those of us out here who are willing to listen, if you want to talk.
