i want to chat with some hand amputees about prosthetic hooks.. i have had a reattachment and it is |
|
not working out.. i would never had the reattachment if i was given the choice.. they just did the horrifically expensive procedure after they knocked me out. i had a heart attack during the 5 hour wastered surgery too, i have lost a lot of my vitality..
i am now very disabled with no use of my left hand and am extremely unemployable.. i will lose my very good paying job, where they have people with prosthetic arms, but i cant be rehired with the non functional hand.. i am really pissed off about this
i want to connect with people with prosthetic hooks and find out what they think about them. i am considering sueing and having the VERY PROBLEMATIC, PAINFUL and USELESS hand swapped for a hook, i could get back into electronics assembly, hold a piece of paper, get something out of a bowl with a spoon, tie my shoes.. etc..but i cant now, it wont get better
know of anyone ..have em pm me
thanks

1. Have you talked to a doctor besides the surgeon? |

I would want to know what the chances are for improved function and whether physical therapy would help. I know it can take a year or more for nerves to recover from an insult.
You had a horrendous accident and a heart attack. From all I've read, you are a prime candidate for severe clinical depression. I wouldn't make any decisions until you know for sure what your prognosis is and that you are able to think straight about this. I know from personal experience that depression really messes with your judgment.
We hear from time to time of someone who chooses amputation because their quality of life will improve. This may be the right decision for you but be careful.
