Hesitant to post this, for fear of jinxing - anxiety might be gone... |
|
I've been dealing (suffering) with GAD/OCD/Phobia stuff for about two years now. I was on (and then off of) Lexapro for about a year, and have been using Lorazepam as a "rescue" med and tried GABA amino acids (help but not a cure) for several months. I finally got so fed up that I went to see a new, naturpathic doctor to look for other alternatives to pharma and grin-and-bear-it.
The verdict:
Metabolic support multi-vitamins, twice/day Fish Oil capsule, twice/day LAC (homeopathic remedy) before bed Cutting most wheat out of my diet
I hate to jinx myself, but I have felt great for the last 10 days or so. No GAD, no OCD/Phobia stuff. I've yet to face my specific anxiety trigger in real life (as opposed to in theory, in my head, or in a movie) so I'm not sure how I'll react in that scenario, but just not having to dwell on it ALL THE TIME is so, so fantastic.
I would strongly encourage anyone who's dealing with anxiety to look for alternative solutions like this. I'm kicking myself for dealing for two years, if this is all it takes! Then again, if I hadn't dealt for so long, I might not be so willing/meticulous about keeping up with the treatments and away from wheat...

How does one go about finding a "naturpathic doctor?"

I have a friend who got her N.D. (Naturpathic Doctor) and she recommended someone to me - she didn't want to treat me as she says it's hard to be objective with friends. I can check and see if she knows anyone good in your area, she does seem to have connections all over the place. Otherwise, I'd google naturpath and your nearest medium/big city and see who comes up, and then ask them for some references.

and see what I can come up with. If I can't find much...I just may get back to you...Thanks. :)
On edit to add: Did you mean a "Naturopathic Doctor?"

Apparently, I can't spell it correctly! A good naturpathic doctor should talk with you about physical and mental symptoms, medical history, life stressors, diet, environmental factors, really assess you as a whole person and not just a set of symptoms to be treated. Good luck!

There are so many different types of doctors anymore, I wasn't sure. Thanks, it is interesting and I plan on pursuing this further. Do let us know how you progress in the future. I'm glad you're doing so well now. :)

8. Well, just the way things can spiral down, they can also |
|
spiral up. Good experiences help create more good experiences, and you can get all the anxiety back under control.
Congratulations!
