| Has anyone gotten refrigerated medicines through mail order? |
|
I plan to get alll my scrips through the mail order plan; it'll save a boatload in copays.
I'm hesitant to get my insulin this way, though. I know they'll send it in a cold pack, but I do live in the desert, and I'm wondering if they'll stay cold enough.
I may just continue to get the insulin from the nearby Walgreen's out of spoilage fears.

which get's very warm, especially in the summer.
I don't think I've ever had a shipment that was bad. I used to do ordering for physician's offices of injectibles, allergy meds, vaccines, etc -- many/most have to be refridgerated.
They were always sent overnight or 2nd day, in a foam cooler, and 1-2 (or more) dry ice packs, and were always fine. I've even recieved meds that are required to be frozen (not just refridgerated), and never had problems.
At least in the situation above, they put little thermonitors on it which read the highest temp -- so you would know if it got warm for some reason. I would talk to the mail order pharmacy and ask them what they do to insure quality/temp of delivery.

| 2. They do say they pack in cold packs, so that, combined with your info, is |

very reassuring. I have a doc's appt today, so I'll ask him about it, but if it works in Mississippi, I don't see why it wouldn't work here in AZ.
I know lots of people do this, so I feel pretty confident now.
It saves LOTS of out of pocket costs, so it's worth it--not to mention my time and the gasoline.
Great info, really appreciated. Thank you!

When I first started getting them years ago, they didn't seem to be that cold but I think the delivery company got a lot of complaints because they started adding a second ice pack and now they stay pretty cold. It's very convenient! They send me a reminder to re-order via email every month. I wouldn't worry about it. They have these things down pretty good now.
