I love my Therasense Freestyle glucometer!!! |
|
Until a few weeks ago, I was still sticking my fingers. Now I don't need as much blood and I can stick myself in the forearm where it doesn't help. The best thing is that Medi-Cal covered the cost. There are some things in the health care system that still work, thank goodness.
Unfortunately, my blood sugars haven't been very stable, but at least I know about it. :)

The Therasense meter really is a Godsend. I had stopped testing before I got mine, as my fingertips were just too painful. And the tiny drop of blood is less than the other meters need. I still use mine, and bought the Cozmonitor attachment for my Cozmore pump when I began pumping. It uses the same technology and strips as Therasense, only it's attached to the pump and reads the glucose level, calculates the amount of insulin and delivers it. One tip - don't get any of the equipment wet or moist, as it doesn't react well to water; and the first thing they will ask when you call them is "Did you get it wet?" If it malfunctions, call them and they can get a new one to you on trade in! And my sales rep for them is the BEST! Congrats!
