Me, Diabetic? Can't Tell By My Latest Labs! |
|
As usual, the kidney part of the lab work isn't normal, but the diabetic part is:
HbA1c 6% (normal range 4% - 6%) Random Glucose 104 (normal range 70 - 159) LDL Cholesterol 100 (normal range - under 160; goal 100 or under) HDL Cholesterol 46 (normal range - over 45)
I do not take anything to lower cholesterol and I take an older, non-Metformin oral hypoglycemic drug to control BG (plus I do tight control). I've also been fighting a chronic kidney infection (infections raise BG), so I've nearly sprained my arm patting myself on the back!

I finally have some control over mine, too. Fast BG's of around 115 in the morning...

Since I became diabetic (after a course of steroids, grrrr), the only out of range HbA1c I've had was the first one (9.2%) but something's always been out of whack - HbA1c normal, but random would be high, or triglycerides so high cholesterol couldn't be computed (chronic kidney disease raises triglyceride levels something fierce!) so this is my first "straight A" card in a year or so.
Today's numbers (not a good day) Fasting: 76 After Lunch/Evening 54 (told you it was bad) After meal 94 Now 74
(Sinus infection + no appetite + errands = stupid hypo)
