poor hubby and the surgical schedule
my poor hubby. i have never seen such a mess as his travails with the a simple surgery. i have about lost track of all the detours, here. he was told to get this surgery done since last summer. it's just tonsils, but he has bad sleep apnea, and there is a growth in one tonsil. they think it is part of the problem. first his gall bladder went bad, and he had to have that out in late september. by the time he was better from that, i had an art event that i was working on, then it was getting to be christmas, so it got put off til after. then it was scheduled and canceled by the doctor, with several unreturned phone calls and other grief. then i think there was a screw up, where someone thought it was on the schedule, and it wasn't. then it was scheduled, we were there at 7 am, and we figured out that someone should have told him not to take his baby aspirins. duh, i know, but he talked to his primary doc about it, he had an abnormal clotting and asked- could this be from the aspirin? no. so they sent us home, rescheduled for yesterday. the surgeon's secretary called, said, the whole schedule for today is being screwed up by a problem case, and we are canceling all his afternoon surgeries. an hour later the surgical dept calls, says you are being pushed back an hour or so. i'm not canceled? who told you that? no, just postponed. ok, good thing i didn't eat yet. so, we went shopping and had several calls back and forth, more delay, later, later, do you still want to do it? yes, i want to get this over with. wait, do i want a surgeon who has been working for 12 hours, half of it on a very difficult case? well, i guess not.
now we get to start over with the whole squeeze. got spring break coming up, i have the dfa training this weekend, oy vey. to say nothing of his job. he is a department head, and this is the second time he left work, having cleared the decks to be gone for a week, only to be back the next day.
i think the poor baby might just end up keeping the damn tonsils.
