What's your absolute favorite personal experience at a MLB Ballpark?

I was at Dodger Stadium in 1979. Pete rethuglican/gambler/liar Rose was at the plate, and about five of my friends and I were sitting in the right field pavilion. They still sold beer out there then. We were three-eighths of the way to 3 sheets.

Rose was at the plate and the only thing I remember about the count was that there were two strikes. Rose swiped at a third strike which the Yeager dropped and then Yeager proceeded to throw Rose out at first. Imagine if you will: 55,000+ fans who were there primarily because they wanted to BOO the rethug/gambler (Bonds doesn't know what booing IS, compared to the way we booed Rose), standing in unison and roaring. (arrrrhhhhhhhh!!!!!!) Meanwhile, Rose is arguing with the home plate umpire that he foul tipped the ball.

Crowd goes nuts.

Umpires meet at the pitcher's mound.

Now, I played Baseball most of my young life and an unwritten rule was that the ruling umpire NEVER reversed his call. In this case, the Home Plate Umpire, in charge of calling balls and strikes, OVERRULLED HIMSELF. I've checked, and he was the head umpire that night.

Rose goes back to the plate, amid a thunderous noise the likes of which few people have ever heard, and weakly grounds out on the next pitch.

and it takes 45 minutes to clear the field of the debris tossed. God we hated Pete Rose even more than Barry Balco. I mean Bonds.

1. Wrigley Field

I was there with my mom and dad when Ernie Banks hit #500...sitting in the upper deck on the 1st base side...whatta day!

2. Milwaukee County Stadium, 1976

My first ball game, I was 6 years old.
I got to see Hank Aaron hit a home run in his final year before he retired. I had no idea who he was, just that he hit a lot of homers and everyone liked him.

3. Milwaukee County Stadium for me too! Two great times!

1964 - Milwaukee Braves - very low attendance at time (rumors of them moving) - went to games that summer about 20 times for 50 cents upper grand stand general admission. We would sneak down to box seats right by the dugout and talk to players in-between innings. Got Joe Torre, my favorite player at the time to sign an autograph for me. (of course, saw Hank Aaron many times & also Warren Spahn's no hitter one year)

1982 - Milwaukee Brewers - saw them win game five of ALC!

4. I got two great games

August 1995 - I'm in the upper deck at Yankee Stadium and I caught a foul ball off the bat of Mike Stanley. It's really cool having a foul ball!

April 2002 - I was at Derek Lowe's no-hitter game! I got the ticket stub signed by him as well! That was the only no-hitter that year and it's a pretty rare feat (though just tonight Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander pitched one). Most fans would never get to be at a game where a no-hitter/perfect game was thrown, so I thought that was really cool!

5. 1965 Old Timers day at Yankee Stadium.

In the real game I saw Mickey Mantle hit his last major league Grand Slam.

The single greatest game I have ever witnessed. Truly a great pitchers duel. It was on ESPN Classic the very next day.

7. TWO: 1985 Angels v Tigers -- 1989 Angels v Rangers

At Anaheim Stadium

1985 Angels v Tigers: Angels go into the bottom of the ninth, down 12-5, and WIN. Dick Schofield, shortstop, hits a walk-off grand slam.

1989 Angels v Rangers: The Ryan Express on the mound. Need I say more? But wait, there's more. Chili Davis fouls off a Nolan Ryan pitch to the left side and into the club level seats. Can you guess who got that ball? 08)

8. Mariners game at the Kingdome, 1983

Gaylord Perry got pounded. He gave up something like 5 home runs, but the Beach Boys played after the game. It was Dennis Wilson's last summer. A good time was had by all. Except maybe Gaylord...

10. Last game ever played by the Mariners in the Kingdome.

I was sitting on the third base side, right next to the aisle. Young guy runs down the steps, stops next to my seat, strips down to nothing except a triangle shaped "flag" in front of his "privates", held by a string, then runs down the steps, jumps the rail onto the field, and starts running all over the place.

It was absolutely hysterical. The players were laughing, the play-by-play guys were laughing, even the cops were laughing. Funnier than hell, and as Dave Niehaus (Mariners primary play-by-play guy) said, "What a fitting end to games at the Dome!" :rofl:
