Dodgers sweep Giants, and Bonds calls himself an `embarrassment'
After a fourth consecutive loss, Giants Manager Bruce Bochy said it was time for the Giants to start getting angry.
Within minutes he had his wish.
Barry Bonds called himself an "embarrassment" to the uniform in a brief, profane outburst after a 5-3 defeat to the Los Angeles Dodgers. Bonds went 0 for 12 in the series as the Giants kicked off the season's second half by getting swept at home.
Bonds, hitless in his past 20 at-bats, dismissed Bochy's observation that he has been trying to pull too many pitches.
"That's not it," Bonds said.
Or that his legs were hurting.
"They're fine," he said.
Or that a day off might do him good.
"That's not it, either," he said.
It was at that point that Bonds called himself an embarrassment and instructed reporters to hightail it from his locker.
