I have a good feeling about this team for the first time since 2000. I think Pedro is going to have a rebirth with the Mets and win the NL Cy Young

3. We look like a far better team than in the past few years |
|
when Nelson Doubleday sold his share of the team, Wilpon didn't have a clue as to what he was doing--until late last year! Then he wised up and hired Omar Minaya as GM! Minaya's the guy who got all those good players and dumped the has-beens and never-wases.

12. Doubleday was a customer of my dad's - we had great box seats |
|
and I saw Strawberry's debut at Shea. Been in Houston 24 years, but I'll never stop being a Mets fan. Saw my first game in 1967. I have the Daily News portraits of the 69 Mets and was married to a Red Sox fan and living in Houston in 1986.
Crap - this puts me in the 700 Club.

He might not go 20-5 w/ a 2.00 but he was not going to go out and blow start after start like most 5th starters.
Might end up being a good thing though. Would be awesome if Ginter was able to start this season where he left off last year. IIRC he was hot as hell in september.

7. You want a league-average guy you can count on as your 4 or 5 guy |
|
And that was Trachsel. He gave us a lot of innings, and let's face it, a 4.00 ERA in 2004 ain't shabby.
He goes in for surgery tomorrow morning, BTW. Positive thoughts, pray 'em if you got 'em.

He's a solid pitcher and losing Phillips is not a big loss IMHO

9. One HUGE problem with this team..... |
|
Absolutely NO bullpen. They have possibly the worst in baseball. They were still deciding who to use 2 days before the season started.
HELP!!!!!!!

My first game was in 1967. I saw Daryl Strawberry's debut at Shea.
I lived in Houston in 1986 and was married to a Red Sox fan at the time.
Just got to watch the game on MLB extra innings. I'm really not happy with the way things are starting out this season. But I remain loyal.
