It's official - the '05 Astros SUCK! |
|
How the hell could a team that was one win from the World Series last year fall this far so fast?
There ain't goona be no 36-10 finish to save this year from the dustbin.
Time to rebuild. I say trade Clemens for whatever they can get. He's too great to be saddled with this bunch of losers anyway. Bidge? Gotta go after this year. He's got no trade value, but they need to release him after this year. Bagwell is under contract for one more year, but someone behind the scenes needs to encourage him to retire. They need to develop some of these minor league kids and get this train back on track.
Oh, and FIRE Purpura's ASS!

1. You could kind of see this coming |
|
The 05 Astros had a lot of hitters that were due to crash. They remind me somewhat of the 03/04 Mariners, both had formerly great hitters that had just hit the end.
You're right, the Astros can't afford to try and hang on with this group. Break them up and rebuild that lineup.

2. Cardinals fans are disappointed at that too! |
|
Houston was supposed to be our big rival again this year, but it looks like that may not happen.

7. Yeah, you guys are gonna run away with the division again. |
|
But you gotta follow through in the playoffs this year. How the hell did you get pounded like that last year?

All their hitters are older guys and were due to dry up. I'm surprised that they haven't done more to get some younger ones in there.

6. Well, they're playing some kids, but it's too much too soon.... |
|
...for some of them. They desperately need some offense.

That just shows how much the average fan actually knows about the game. I'm guilty as well. I said the same thing.

11. Care to take this back now? |

I'm going to suggest the Cardinals tank the first half of the season next year and just catch fire late. Being the best team all year isn't worth a bucket of warm spit.

I'm glad I didn't pipe in with a knee-jerk analysis as well...
Ummm. So, it's almost basketball season.
