It has been a long day. I was at the cemetery at 6:15 today. |

It gets very busy later in the AM and I wanted to have a talk with my husband. You who have lost someone know what I mean. Just sit there for a while and remember. Chat a bit, cry a bit. Take a deep breath and it is time to go home.
I went to the town memorial service later this morning. This year, so many on the roll call were from Korea and Vietnam. Yes, time does pass and we are all getting older. It was so sad to hear. A few names from WWII, most from Korea, some from Vietnam. Luckily this year, no-one from Iraq. Last year we had two young men, both with young families, lost in that illegal war.
This is my second Memorial Day without my husband and I can assure you, it does not get any easier.

I am so glad you could find some quiet time to be with your husband. It must be especially hard to grieve during Memorial Day, when so much attention is given (rightly so) to the honored dead. Your husband must have been very, very special to have had someone like you in his life. I hope that you still feel his presence in your life, not only at the cemetery, but also in your day-to-day activities. I have no doubt that he is with you, reaching out to you, and watching over you. I pray that you will see him in the sunrise, feel him in the cool breeze, hear him in the stillness of the night, and feel his gentle touch of love while you sleep. Love never ends; it lives on forever. Peace to you, Ruth

No, it doesn't get easier, but we do get better at dealing with the pain, the longing, the lonely.
Talk to him all you want. It has been made very clear to me that they know/hear/still love us deeply.
